TASER

Essential Information On Electroshock Tasers That You Need To Know

As electroshock taser is a type of non-lethal self defense device that over the years has proven to be nearly 100% effective.  Taser International, which was established in 1993, is the company that makes these devices. Since that time, the company has been producing non-lethal weapons to allow individuals to protect themselves while at the same time minimizing risk of death or serious injury.  Since 1992, when the compared teamed up with law enforcement, it has been incredibly successful. A 2009 study from the Police Executive Research Forum showed that there was a 76% decrease in officer injuries when Tasers were used.  So it isn't too surprised that the civilian market has also skyrocketed for tasers.

Most people view tasers as being a type of stun gun.  However, a taser is not a stun gun and instead is a type of Electroshock weapons that utilizes a low amperage electrical current for disrupting the voluntary control of an attacker's muscles. The effects are called neuromuscular incapacitation by the manufacturer.  Tasers don't rely on pain compliance alone, except when they are in stun gun mode.  That is what is great about this type of device.  It is able to work as a stun gun as well if you miss your target or there is another attacker in the area once you have fired your weapon.  Another big benefit is that the non-lethal devices have been designed so that they can be used from a distance, which is one of the major reasons why most law enforcement prefer them over a traditional stun gun.

The Taser has a fairly unique way of operating. It uses cartridges that contain compressed nitrogen for deploying two small probes at the target.  These probes are connected with two 15-foot wires attached to the main unit.  The two wires carry low amperage, high voltage current to the target from the unit.  The energy is able to penetrate as much as two inches worth of clothing and is able to override the central nervous system of a person.  An individual who is struck with an electroshock Taser experiences strong simulation of their motor and sensory nerves, which results in involuntary muscle contractions that are quite strong. In other words, the person is unable to control his muscles, and is therefore, incapacitated.  The longer that the unit is kept engaged, the longer the person will be out.  A Taser produces instant results.  Police studies across the country have shown that the instant incapacitation rate with a taser is higher than with a handgun, with much less liability and risk involved.

Electroshock Taser devices have cartridges that each have their own unique serial number.  When the cartridge is fired, it discharges 20-30 paper tags that have serial numbers.  That enables law enforcement to be able to track the product back to the original owner and be able to track any potential misuses of it.  That makes it more difficult for them to be used illegally by criminals without them getting caught.
